Tradebe Environmental Services has joined forces with renewable energy specialist Greening Group to build what is being hailed as one of Spain’s first large-scale solar panel recycling facilities.

Located in Jerez del Marquesado, Granada, the project combines Tradebe’s waste management expertise with Greening Group’s experience in solar infrastructure. The facility is designed to extract glass, aluminium and silicon.

It is scheduled to start operations this month (October) and is expected to create new employment opportunities in the region.

‘Strategic step

‘This transaction represents a strategic step in our growth and strengthens our commitment to the circular economy,’ says Victor Creixell, ceo of Tradebe Environmental Services. ‘We are promoting the recycling of solar panels and reaffirming our commitment to innovation and sustainability.’

Greening Group president Ignacio Salcedo adds: ‘This alliance reinforces our strategy in the circular economy, combining our experience in the photovoltaic sector with Tradebe’s track record in environmental services.’

Benchmark

General manager of the new venture, José Manuel Ramírez, says the goal is to transform the Granada site into a ‘European benchmark in photovoltaic recycling’.

‘We have evolved from an idea to a reality thanks to the efforts of the group and the close collaboration with the University of Granada. This facility will not only reduce the environmental impact of panels at the end of their useful life but will also contribute to local job creation and to positioning Andalusia as a technological hub in the circular economy.’
