New player in US aircraft dismantling sector

Aircraft maintenance and operations specialist Skyservice Business Aviation has launched a recycling and reuse division to handle end-of-life planes.

The US company is responding to what it sees as growing demand for second-life parts amid supply chain disruptions.

Milestone

Skyservice president and ceo Benjamin Murray says accreditation achieved for dismantling ‘retired’ aircraft represents a significant milestone in his company’s  commitment to sustainability and innovation within the aviation sector.

‘The current challenges in the aircraft parts market present unique opportunities for responsible solutions. Our approach to aircraft teardowns not only addresses immediate supply chain issues but also contributes to a more sustainable aviation ecosystem while delivering a strong ROI for aircraft owners.’

Owners’ choice

Skyservice aims to maximise the overhaul and recycling of aircraft components, reducing waste and minimising environmental impact.

Plane owners can sell their retired aircraft to Skyservice, ensuring guaranteed monetary return and management of the dismantling process. Alternatively, it provides consignment services, handling the disassembly and subsequent sale of parts, with owners receiving a share of the proceeds.
