New plastics recycling hub for Belgium

Neue Herbold is delivering tech for a new plastics recycling facility.

Dutch recycling firm Morssinkhof Rymoplast is building a new plastics recycling plant in Belgium.

The plant is under construction in Lommel, where the recycler will treat post-consumer plastic packaging. The site will target polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE-HD).

German tech partner

German recycling technology provider Neue Herbold will supply four identical wet grinding systems, including flotation tanks and cleaning stage.

After mechanical drying, a Neue Herbold gravity separator is provided. Each of these processing lines is designed for a throughput of up to 1.5 tonnes per hour.

Continuous process

The centrepiece of the systems is Neue Herbold’s SM granulators equipped with a special feed hopper type ZB with screw guide. This machine guarantees an almost continuous feed of the material into the grinding chamber of the granulator.

‘At the same time, this device closes the feed hopper and prevents flyback of regrind from the hopper opening,’ says Neue Herbold.

Key benefits include:

  • lower ampage peaks of the granulator’s drive motor
  • energy savings of up to 18%
  • reduced noise level
  • less wear and tear

In addition to the applications for PP and PE-HD, the granulators can also grind PET bottles and film waste.
