Automated electronic plastics recycling system

The system is designed to accept post-industrial and commercial plastics, principally electronic equipment casings for automatic resin separation. An applied research and development professional services organisation based in Largo, Florida, CTC was awarded the contract for the DEER2 project by the U.S. Department of Defense. This was designed to illustrate the best solutions for the environmentally and economically sound recovery of resources from used electronic equipment, and to demonstrate the best available technology in readiness for industrial application. CTC explored various aspects of the de-manufacturing, reuse and recycling of materials originating from electronics.
RRT was chosen by CTC as the contractor for the plastics processing module. ’The plastics recycling application is an important component of the project,’ said Nathiel Egosi, P.E., President of RRT. ’This is one of the most modern methods to automatically separate the mixed plastics into marketable products.’
