Belgium – With the imminent retirement of Francis Veys, the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has introduced Alexandre Delacoux as its new director general.
The latter joined BIR last year as its general manager and has been ‘gradually taking over more and more responsibilities’ at the world recycling body’s head office in Brussels. Delacoux will assume the title of director general on September 1 this year; Veys will continue to serve the organisation in an advisory capacity.
Delacoux’s career highlights include working for nearly a decade at Du Pont de Nemours, a major business-to-business company in the chemicals arena. He also co-wrote the management book ‘Communicating Sustainable Development – Issues and Impact for Enterprises’.
In his new position, Delacoux will take charge of day-to-day operations at BIR. Besides overseeing 10 staff members and the same number of BIR ambassadors, he is tasked with ensuring the ‘smooth co-ordination’ of BIR commodity division and committee programmes to achieve a common strategy worldwide.
