Brenner Recycling talks broken off

United States – In the USA, Brenner Recycling Inc. has discontinued negotiations over its pending acquisition by Upstate Shredding LLC-Ben Weitsman & Son, Inc. of Owego, New York. Brenner Recycling Inc. will retain ownership of the third-generation, family-owned business based in Hazleton which buys retail and industrial scrap iron, as well as non-ferrous metals, cardboard and paper.

‘Given current circumstances, it appears we will be unable to come to mutually acceptable terms, but the Brenner family is very pleased to be able to preserve the heritage and tradition of a long-standing local family business,’ comments Paul Brenner, President of Brenner Recycling.

Adam Weitsman, President of Ben Weitsman & Son Inc., released a statement through a spokesman at Upstate Shredding. ‘We couldn’t close on the date they wanted to close on because, before we acquire a business, we require a full environmental audit,’ said Steve Green, Vice President of Upstate Shredding. He made it clear that he was not implying any wrong-doing on the part of Brenner, but rather that Upstate Shredding LLC-Ben Weitsman & Son, Inc. could not meet the closing date requested by Brenner officials because it did not have the information it required.
