SITA to recommission former Citron plant

France – French waste management company SITA, part of Suez Environnement, has been appointed by a French regional court to recommence the activities of battery recycler Citron, the Le Havre-based company declared bankrupt last December. SITA was chosen ahead of Remondis, Veolia and a Mexican firm.
Conditions of the takeover have not been disclosed. Furthermore, it has not been clarified who will bear the costs for the depollution of a site where the soil is heavily contaminated.
Citron’s former CEO was taken into custody in August last year and convicted of endangering the lives of the workforce.
