Sapa, a manufacturer of aluminium profiles, will acquire all of Indalex’s assets in the USA and Canada in a deal valued at approximately US$ 95 million.
Illinois-based Indalex maintains 10 plants in the two countries with a combined capacity of 315 000 tons per year; the company recorded a turnover of US$ 900 million in selling 200 000 tons in 2008.
The transaction will allow Sapa to improve its geographical presence in North America, including an introduction to the Canadian market, while securing a better position for the group to service customers through improved painting, anodising and fabrication capabilities, it says.
