Manitowoc teams up with Chinese crane builder

Based in Wisconsin, USA, The Manitowoc Company is one of the world’s largest providers of lifting equipment for the global construction industry. TaiAn Dongyue Heavy Machinery Co. is located in TaiAn City in the Shandong province of China, some 300 miles south of Beijing. The company was founded in 1972 and is a major player in the Chinese mobile hydraulic crane sector. Employing a total of 900 people, it manufactures and assembles mobile hydraulic truck cranes for the Chinese market.
China is currently the leading market for mobile hydraulic cranes, accounting for more than 70% of all mobile hydraulic units produced in 2006. This is Manitowoc’€™s second major move into this market, having previously operated a tower crane factory in Zhangjiagang as a joint venture before assuming full ownership.
