We will be launching many more green products in the market in the coming months,’ Mr Bhasin adds.
Etain is made of 60 per cent virgin plastic in its inner layer and 40 per cent recycled plastic on the outer layer. ‘€˜Etain is a post-consumer recycled (PCR) tube and there has been a demand from our customers to provide these for some time now,’€™ explains Sanjay Bhasin.
Currently, the company is producing the tubes from its existing facilities and will continue to do so for some time. It will first be produced at facilities in America, then in Europe and then India. This is because of the customer pull that the company observes. The supply chain, in terms of materials, needs to be more developed in India before the tubes can be manufactured from here, he says. For that, recycling companies need to come forward and offer their materials to companies such as Essel Propack that would produce such tubes.
’The cost of production of these is tubes is slightly high now, but as the volumes increase, the price will clearly come to a more equilibrium level,’ he says. The company expects 10 to 20% of its existing customer base to switch over to these tubes.
