Thousands of cars with Italian registrations have been loaded at the port of Ancona and shipped to Bulgaria via Greece. The scam was organised by 45 firms across some nine areas of Central and Northern Italy. Since the cars were already declared to be destined for recycling, they escaped normal export taxes and customs duty.
