There are some 600 plastics converting plants in Romania and combined production capacity is currently around 500 000 tonnes per annum. Large European OEMs from the automotive, food processing and construction sectors have already found their way to Romania and leading European converters are expected to follow over the coming years.
Extrusion lines for film products remain the largest consumer of plastics in Romania, followed by injection moulding and the extrusion of pipes and profiles. There is a great need for infrastructure renewal and investments are needed for road construction and housebuilding in particular, thus creating a potentially large market for plastic pipes. Romania has become a member of the EuPC following the country’s accession to the European Union.
The overview is available for sale via EuPC’s services company at a cost of Euro 250. Order forms can be obtained via the EuPC services website.
