Dutch manufacturer Goudsmit Magnetic Systems has created a new design of rotating clean-flow magnet for carbon black processing.
When separating the pearl-shaped carbon black stream from iron parts, the pellets often stick to the bars. In the Goudsmit system, the bars are scraped clean during each cleaning cycle through the incorporation of a mechanical scrape ring. The bars are tempered to ensure no damage can be inflicted by the scraping mechanism. Meanwhile, in order to prevent the falling carbon black stream from damaging the bars, a small valve box has been developed to restrict the height of fall.
Use of rotating magnets helps to boost process capacity while strong Neoflux magnets allow even tiny iron parts of ± 35 microns to be removed, explains Goudsmit.
