Sweden-based recycling company Stena Metall and Czech-based precious/non-ferrous metals processor and recycler Safina have formed a joint venture in the Czech Republic called Stena/Safina. The new entity will focus on electronics recycling in line with the EU’s Directive on Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). It will be headquartered at Vestec but will also operate at Brno and Sadska in the Czech Republic.
Stena Metall operates from 230 locations in nine European countries. The group handles and processes ferrous and non-ferrous metals, recovered paper, plastics, WEEE, hazardous waste, chemicals and other production waste. The company handles electronic scrap at plants in the following European countries: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
Private company Safina is a processor of precious/non-ferrous metals with a strong presence in Europe and Asia.
