KG has looked to expand and modernise its array of machinery. As part of this initiative, Kohl GmbH tested a Fuchs MHL 350 Quick Connect with fully-hydraulic quick coupling system together with a Genesis Quick Connect quick coupling system and a Genesis XP 400R shear. ’Among the arguments for the Genesis scrap shear is one that sticks out: it has a unique power-to-weight ratio,’ explains Dominik Erath, Managing Director of Genesis Europe. ‘€˜This is the reason that such a powerful shear can still be operated with a wheeled excavator.’€™
With the Terex Fuchs Quick Connect, the operator can switch between a shear and a grapple or other attachments without leaving his cabin. In the above application, around 80% of the cutting can be performed with the Genesis XP 400R, which makes it possible to dismantle a locomotive in only two to three days.
Founded in 1967 by Heinz Josef Kohl, Kohl GmbH & Co. KG is a renowned medium-sized metal recycling enterprise with bases in Fürstenfeld and Übersbach in south east Austria. The company’€™s main field of activity is wholesaling alloyed and unalloyed iron and steel scrap, non-ferrous metals and steel products.
