The improvements include a fully-interchangeable blade system which helps to maximise blade life while dramatically reducing maintenance concerns, according to the US company’s National Sales Manager Shane Kuhlmey.
’Blade wear and replacement have been two of the biggest problems vexing users of mobile shears for decades,’€™ he says. ‘€˜Our new blade system features four identical cutting blades which can be rotated top to bottom, front to back. In much the same manner that rotating the tyres on your car can greatly increase their life, rotating the blades on the new XP shears will afford unmatched blade life.’€™ In addition to the blades’€™ interchangeability, the four blades can also be rotated in place so as to utilise all four cutting edges.
According to the manufacturer, the changes have been driven by customers’€™ demand for lower maintenance costs and related downtime.
A new dual-guide blade system has also been introduced which, according to Genesis, ‘€˜rewrites the book on piercing tip maintenance’€™. The system allows customers ‘€˜easily to shim the piercing tip to the type of scrap they’€™re processing’€™, it explains. ‘€˜Now, higher degrees of tolerance can be established and maintained for lighter material, thereby reducing the risk of material jamming. Lower tolerances – ideal for heavier materials – can be just as easily set.’€™
Genesis Attachments is one of the world’€™s leading manufacturers of high-quality attachments for use in scrap processing, demolition, reconstruction, utility and waste handling operations.
