SCA had been unable to use packaging waste to fuel its power stations owing to size and metal contamination constraints. The Master Magnets solution involved size reduction measures as well as ridding the packaging of non-ferrous and ferrous metals in the form of, for example, staples and paper clips.
Now in full operation, the SCA plant consists of: a stainless steel screw conveyor; an overband electro-magnetic separator; a 132 kW mono-shear shredder 50/200; an eddy current separator; and feed and transfer conveyors. The plant is capable of processing 7 tonnes per hour and has enabled the packaging giant to cut its fuel bill.
