* Global Partners
Global Partners Alliance L.L.C. of Bettendorf, Iowa, has become the exclusive North American sales agent for SWB Stahlformguss of Bochum, Germany, a foundry producing wear parts for metal recycling equipment. SWB is the world’s only manufacturer of differentially-hardened alloy hammers for shredding equipment, according to Global Partners’€™ Principal Officer Patrick Comparin.
SWB makes its hammers using a proprietary heat-treatment process that produces softer pin bores for increased hammer pin life as well as a harder impact surface along the critical wear area of the hammer. According to Mr Comparin, every SWB casting undergoes independent inspection using a magnetic particle process to check for possible cracks and ultrasonic methods to assess the material’€™s structure. Also, all castings have their dimensions checked so that components with the same weight can be shipped and installed together, ensuring that the wear parts will be in balance and run smoothly.
Global Partners is a corporate performance improvement firm offering a fresh perspective on increasing profitability through re-evaluating sales and marketing strategies and off-shore sourcing.

* SSI Shredding Systems
SSI Shredding Systems, Inc. of Wilsonville, Oregon, U.S., has purchased Schred Max of Canada, thereby combining the capabilities of two of North America’€™s leading manufacturers of primary reducers. The acquisition is said to enable SSI to offer the most complete range of multi-material reduction equipment available – delivering cost-effective volume reduction at rates ranging from 1 to100 tons per hour. The brand name for the combined range is PRI-MAX.
In recent years, both companies have seen a market shift towards low-speed primary reduction to supplement or replace high-speed equipment. Schred Max’€™s niche has been in smaller applications ranging from 1 to 25 tons per hour, although the company has also involved itself in large projects requiring smaller-scale pre-processing. For its part, SSI has been covering applications in the 10 to 100 tons per hour range through its Primary Waste Reducers.
