The international waste disposal market is changing, with demand now focusing on handling devices that: reliably recover coarse particles with grain sizes of 10 mm or more from waste streams and achieve optimum separation performance; are easy to handle; and are excellent value for money. The requirements of the German waste disposal industry differ greatly from those found elsewhere. Whereas every piece of blister packaging has to be recovered in Germany, it is sufficient in other countries to ensure that drinks cans are securely separated without compromising operator safety or availability. With its eccentric pole system, the non-ferrous separator from Steinert fulfils both of these criteria and thus sets very high standards, says the company.
The separator measures 1.6 metres in length, can be fitted with an outlet and an inlet, and boasts belt widths ranging from 80 to 150 cm. In addition to a corrugated-edge belt, a special device catches falling material and thus prevents it from coming into contact with the slack side. This guarantees optimum wear protection for the belt and belt drums, it is claimed.
The separator is fitted with the same features as existing Steinert machines, including an eccentric pole system which can be adjusted when the device is not in use, as well as all of the benefits of eddy-current technology such as excellent field depth. The smaller design and the reduced distance between the axles facilitate the changing of the belt.
