Key appointment at Smurfit Kappa Recycling

UK – Smurfit Kappa Recycling has appointed Matthew Berrill to the role of Operations Director at its paper and board recycling collection business.

He will oversee the production, logistical, environmental, quality, health and safety aspects of operations at the seven company depots in the UK.

Mr Berrill has worked on the packaging and containers side of the Smurfit Kappa Group for over 20 years. In 1998, he took part in a 12-month exchange to Inland Packaging USA where he benchmarked operational best practice and led a waste reduction project at the plant that saved the company US$ 400 000 per annum.

Smurfit Kappa’s two mills in the UK reprocess approximately 500 000 tonnes of material per annum. Smurfit Kappa Recycling’s activities include recovery of cardboard, office papers and plastics, security shredding and waste disposal.
