United States – Chicago-based Universal Scrap Metals (USM) has acquired assets in Premier Metals Recycling, a copper processor based in the same US city.
USM is aiming to add an extensive copper recycling capability to the ferrous, non-ferrous, electronic and composite scrap recycling conducted by the companies already in its portfolio, namely Universal Scrap Metals, USM Processing, USM Recycling and USMe Electronic Assets Recycling.
‘We are excited about the benefits we will gain from the synergy between our two companies’ operations,’ Jason Zeid, Vice President of all USM ventures, has reportedly told Recycling Today. ‘The addition of Premier’s knowledgeable employees and specialised technology and copper recycling equipment will bolster our existing copper recycling operation.’
Former President of Premier Metals Recycling, Todd Fingerman, will head the expanded copper operation which will feature new equipment and will be situated at USM’s headquarters.
