PV CYCLE takes operations to Germany and Italy

Belgium – Following a surge in business activity, Belgium-based PV CYCLE – which specialises in the dismantling, demolition and renovation of photovoltaic modules – is setting up offices in Germany and Italy.

‘€˜By bringing our collection and recycling services closer to the market, we want to promote existing partnerships, advance new ones and proactively contribute and respond to national, regional and local developments,’€™ says PV CYCLE’€™s President Wilfried Taetow. The non-profit association has now become active in all EU member states and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries since its inception in 2010.

According to the association’€™s Managing Director Jan Clyncke, regionalisation is a multi-stage process. ‘€˜The plan to provide local presence will contribute significantly to the development of our actionable national WEEE laws and processes,’€™ he says. ‘€˜We want to create a stronger national framework within our European programme.’€™

The German Solar Association BSW-Solar has applauded the expansion decision. ‘€˜PV CYCLE’€™s presence will enhance competition, which serves acquiring the best solutions available on the market,’€™ states Managing Director Jörg Mayer.

So far, the association has collected well over 5000 tons of old photovoltaic modules through its collection and recycling programme – roughly half of which now originate from Italy and Germany. With members spread across Europe and overseas, PV CYCLE comprises 90% of the European PV market.
