The Netherlands – Dutch company Baetsen Recycling has announced the purchase of ‘the world’s first fully robotic recycling system’. To be installed in February next year, cutting-edge ZenRobotics Recycler represents an investment of more than Euro 1 million (US$ 1.3 million).
Eager to be a front-runner in innovative recycling technology, Baetsen is bringing the Finnish artificial intelligence system to its location at Son. Once active, the ‘highest technology available for waste management today’ is set to recover concrete, bricks, stone and wood, as well as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, from construction waste.
Baetsen Group’s CEO Hans van Roosmalen comments: ‘The increasing shortage of raw material, paired with the abundance of unused waste and the complexity of manual sorting, begs for a suitable and especially sustainable solution. Recycling robots are the future: they are more efficient, cleaner and safer than existing recycling systems.’
ZenRobotics’ Commercial Director Rainer Rehn remarks: ‘Baetsen’s specific region of operations upholds one of the world’s strictest environmental requirements, so this is a first-class design win for ZenRobotics.’
