A-Ward’s MiSlide wins engineering ‘Oscar’

New Zealand – The latest container loading system from New Zealand equipment manufacturer A-Ward Attachments has won this year’€™s Swedish Steel Prize. Made entirely from SSAB’€™s high-strength Hardox wear plate, the MiSlide provides a flexible system for compressing and packing metallic scrap in containers.

‘€˜Teaming up with our specialist suppliers is key to this success,’€™ says A-Ward Attachments’€™ Managing Director Simon Ward. Produced specifically with the recycling and waste sectors in mind, the system was designed to ensure safe, fast, versatile and damage-free loading of 20- and 40-foot containers within five minutes, A-Ward has stated. According to K. G. Ramström, Chairman of the Jury and SSAB’€™s Chief Technical Officer, the new system ‘€˜demonstrates the advantages of high-strength steel’€™.

This recognition has made a deep impression on the New Zealand manufacturer, which says the Swedish event is ‘€˜the equivalent to the Oscars of the steel engineering world’€™. According to A-Ward, the victory proves small businesses can match ‘€˜the big boys in the world’€™, arguing: ‘€˜We were up against some of the world giants of manufacturing such as Volvo and John Deere who have billions of dollars at their disposal.’€™
