Application
performance of the treatment cycle, ensuring
a consistent and efficient material flow.
A single solution
Mauro Panizzolo, owner and sales manag-
er at Panizzolo Recycling Systems, is excited
about the key features of the Kraken series
and how it will help tackle today’s highly var-
ied scrap flow.
‘The Kraken PSH 2300 was developed
specifically for extreme-duty applications,’
he says. ‘Thanks to its robust structure, a
630 kW motor and a total weight of 95 tons,
the machine can handle even the most com-
plex types of scrap, such as whole cars, car
bales with engines and mechanical parts, alu-
minium profiles, ferrous scrap and bulky and
mixed materials.’
One of the most distinctive features of the
Kraken Series is the gear shafts which were
designed entirely in-house. ‘Their geometry
and configuration guarantee precise, con-
trolled tearing that can reduce scrap in a sin-
gle step,’ Panizzolo explains. ‘This efficiency
is key to preparing material for downstream
processing, while maintaining a consistent
flow. It’s one of the reasons Kraken delivers
such high production standards.’
Special engineering solutions
His company put a lot of focus on dura-
bility and ease of maintenance. ‘The Kraken
PSH 2300 is equipped with a quick-release
shaft system that allows for fast and easy re-
placement of worn components, significantly
reducing downtime,’ Panizzolo points out.
‘To preserve the mechanical integrity of
the machine, the bearing supports are de-
signed to shield critical components from
dirt and contamination, helping maintain
high operational efficiency even in the most
demanding environments.’
From a layout perspective, Kraken also
features containerised hydraulic and electri-
cal units, which simplify transport, speed up
installation and make integration seamless in
both new and existing treatment lines.
Safety first
Safety was a top priority in the design.
Kraken’s shredding system is capable of tear-
ing through critical elements like cylinders
or tanks that might contain flammable liq-
uids or residual pressure. By opening these
components early in the process, the risk of
damage is reduced and the downstream ma-
chinery is protected. It’s a crucial advantage
for operators working with unpredictable or
mixed scrap loads.
Smart and durable
In line with Panizzolo’s quality policy, the
Kraken Series was designed to last. ‘We use
certified steel structures, reinforced welding
and components sourced exclusively from
Italian and Northern European suppliers in-
ternationally known for their high manufac-
turing standards,’ the tech provider says. ‘A
clear example of this is the choice of planetary
gearboxes specifically dimensioned to with-
stand high loads and continuous heavy-duty
operation. This uncompromising approach
to quality translates into long-term durability
and a stronger return on investment.’
Moreover, the Kraken is equipped with
a smart control system. The machine oper-
ates using pre-set recipes optimised for dif-
ferent types of scrap that can be customised
or created from scratch, giving operators full
flexibility. The result is a process that’s more
energy-efficient and better aligned with the
specific material being treated. It also helps
reduce unnecessary mechanical stress on the
machine.
Emirates Global Aluminium
The Kraken PSH 2300 is one of the core
elements of a recycling plant being designed
and supplied for Emirates Global Aluminium
(EGA), one of the leading aluminum produc-
ers worldwide.
‘This plant, which will be the largest of its
kind in the UAE, is designed to process up to
170 000 tonnes of scrap per year,’ Panizzolo
says. ‘It will play a key role in EGA’s broader
decarbonisation strategy. We’re very proud to
contribute to such a forward-looking project.’
The plant is designed to recover high-
quality, low-carbon secondary aluminum
from both post-consumer and pre-consumer
scrap, which will be marketed under EGA’s
RevivAL brand. ‘Our role goes far beyond
supplying machinery: our technology pow-
ers the entire process, from optimising mate-
rial flows to seamlessly coordinating the full
treatment cycle. This project is a milestone
not only for EGA but also for our company,
as it reflects a new level of technological part-
nership and international trust.’
