Machinex to expand MRF presence in Canada

Canada – Machinex of Canada is to supply a new materials recycling facility for Central Newfoundland Waste Management (CNWM) with a processing capacity of up to 12 tonnes per hour of dry residential and commercial waste. The company intends to begin installation in June 2014, with start-up scheduled for October next year.

According to the machinery specialist, the system will offer ‘the perfect balance between manual labour and automated sorting equipment’, and will include a ballistic separator, an optical sorting unit, a magnet for ferrous, eddy-current separation, a bag opener and trommel.

The ‘operational flexibility’ of the plant will enable the processing of a very wide composition of material while focusing on the recovery of ferrous, non-ferrous, paper, cardboard, PET and HDPE plastics bottles, mixed plastics, films and textiles, it says.

CNWM’s chairman Allan Scott comments: ‘This is the culmination of considerable research and study of numerous facilities in both Canada and the USA.
