TSR Recycling has struck as three-year agreement with Novelis to provide some 75 000 tonnes of aluminium scrap to be processed into low-carbon sheet for the automotive industry.
TSR, part of the Remondis Group, processes 7.2 million tonnes ferrous and non-ferrous metals and has 170 business locations with 4 500 employees across Europe. The deal will see recycled aluminium delivered to what Novelis says is Europe’s largest recycling centre at Nachterstedt in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
Market demand
Novelis says the strategic agreement directly supports rising market demand for high-recycled-content aluminium. Novelis is developing innovative solutions with its automotive customers to absorb more pre- and post-consumer scrap into new alloys.
Denis Reuter, coo TSR Group says: ‘We are excited to deepen our collaboration with Novelis based on our joint purpose to maximize circularity and decrease carbon emissions, conserve natural resources and reduce energy of the material industries.
‘By working together, we can lead the transition toward a circular economy for the automotive sector and beyond.’
Proud of partnership
Emilio Braghi, evp Novelis Inc. and president, Novelis Europe, says the company is proud to demonstrate its strong partnership with TSR.
‘This is an important alliance to secure the supply of high-quality processed raw materials to meet our customers’ sustainability targets, as well as advancing on our own 2030 journey toward 75% recycled content across our products.’
