It’s farewell to one of Canada’s scrap icons and leading family owned recycling businesses, Pacific Metals from Vancouver. On Linkedin, company vice president Jacqueline Lotzkar says Pacific Metals’ recycling operations have been sold. The new owners are ABC Recycling and Pacific Materials Destruction, both based in the Greater Vancouver area.
‘I am incredibly proud of the legacy and business that my dad, Mark Lotzkar, has built, and I am thrilled that he can now retire and enjoy the next chapter of his life with my mom, Brenda,’ Lotzkar says.
Memories to cherish
‘Working alongside my dad and brother, Brad, has been an invaluable experience. The past 10 years of growing our family business have given me memories I will cherish forever. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to take on leadership roles in both our company and the industry.
‘For everyone who has had the privilege to work in the recycled materials industry, we all know that one of the best parts of the industry is the community. I want to thank all my industry friends, mentors, colleagues and everyone I have worked with over the last 10+ years. I will be forever grateful for your support and friendships.’
Four generations in scrap
Pacific Metals has been an essential part of the recycled materials industry in Greater Vancouver since 1912 when Jacqueline Lotzkar’s great-grandfather Leon arrived in Canada. ‘I am proud of the positive impact we have made both locally and globally in promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility,’ she says.
What’s next?
Pacific Metals’ Delta, British Columbia property was not included in the sale and has been leased. Remaining equipment not included in the sale will be going to auction.
Lotzkar will be assisting with the company’s transition while also exploring new career opportunities.
