Global – Some 290 new or upgraded recycling plants were counted across 61 countries last year, according to the AcuComm Waste Futures research bureau. This is ‘a clear sign’, it says, ‘that interest in materials recovery is growing globally’.
The UK-based research body has published ‘The Complete Guide to New Recycling Plant Development 2013’. The 158-page document provides detailed information on the plants themselves as well as more than 750 direct contacts for those involved in their development.
‘Too much valuable material is still put into landfill or incinerated with obvious costs to society,’ comments Eric Wigart, chairman of AcuComm. ‘This guide is essential for recycling companies and operators and, for the first time, provides a comprehensive overview of the recycling and materials recovery plant development landscape in 2013. Unlike official statistics, companies are able to review real world developments and drill down into specific sectors and companies.’
