Ban on lead to kill PVC recycling?

Europe – A ban on the use of lead in certain products will spell the end for PVC recycling, warns European industry body VinylPlus.

Research commissioned by VinylPlus and conducted by consultancy and engineering bureau Tauw in the Netherlands shows that a total ban on lead will lead to the collapse of PVC recycling in Europe. And there will also be job losses, VinylPlus is quoted as saying in several Dutch business media reports.

Tauw looked at the effects of the reduction of lead in certain products because of health risks. Also examined was whether lead use could be reduced such that consumers were not exposed to risk.
