United Kingdom – The WEEE Forum has appointed Philip Morton, chief executive of the UK’s biggest producer compliance scheme REPIC, as its new president.
Already a member of the WEEE Forum board, Morton takes over from outgoing president José Ramón Carbajosa of Spain. It has also been announced that Jorge Vicente, managing director of the AMB3E collection scheme in Portugal, has joined the WEEE Forum board.
Morton comments: ′Since the WEEE Forum was launched it has become firmly established as the place to go to for all things related to WEEE and is widely regarded as a centre of excellence for electronic waste collection and processing.′ He argues that the recent Recast of the WEEE Directive has created new challenges and opportunities for all stakeholders, stressing that ′major changes lie ahead and I am delighted to be appointed at such an exciting time′.
The Forum is a not-for-profit association of 39 WEEE producer responsibility organisations in Europe. It seeks to encourage members to make ′constructive contributions′ to the general debate on e-waste policy matters.
