Balcan tackles ‘inefficient’ lamp recycling technology

United Kingdom – Balcan Engineering of the UK is showcasing its market-leading range of bespoke lamp recycling equipment at the upcoming E-Scrap Conference in Orlando on October 21-23. The company’s technology offers ‘a complete recycling solution for all types of lamps and bulbs’, says managing director Alistair Rinfret.

Innovative machinery is a must in the e-scrap sector, according to Rinfret. ′So far, 25 US states have passed legislation mandating state-wide e-waste recycling and several more states are working on passing new laws or improving existing laws, so there is a growing need in the US to ensure businesses are ready to meet legislation with effective recycling processes,′ he says.

Lighting technology has moved at such a pace in the last few years that it has left some older recycling systems unable to cope without expensive bolt-ons or modifications, Rinfret adds. ′We know many businesses in the US are still operating this old machinery and we are keen to share the benefits of our range of MP lamp recyclers that have been designed to cope with all types of lighting safely and efficiently,′ he notes.

Balcan has already partnered with several companies to replace ′old, inefficient machinery′ with its innovative recycling systems. ′We′re keen to position ourselves as the lamp recycling solution of choice in the US,′ Rinfret concludes.
