Worldwide – As part of a results package in which it reported a jump in its fourth-quarter and full-year 2014 profits, aluminium major Alcoa has predicted that global demand for the metal in 2015 will replicate last year’s growth of 7%.
Alcoa expects 2015 global aerospace sales to increase by 9-10% over 2014 on continued ′robust′ demand for large commercial aircraft, regional jets and jet engines. For automotive, the company projects steady growth to continue this year, forecasting a global automotive production increase of 2 to 4% driven by replacement demand and low lending rates in North America as well as both the growth of the middle class and clean air regulations in China.
Building and construction is expected to maintain its improvement in 2015, with Alcoa projecting global sales growth of 5-7%. But while the North American market is expected to sustain its gradual recovery in 2015, ′the European market is likely to remain in decline′, it states.
