Pellenc scores with Mistral sorting solutions

France РPellenc is celebrating the inauguration of a new waste sorting centre at Paprec in the French city of N̨mes which features six of its optical sorters. On an annual basis, the equipment will help treat up to 40 000 tons of mixed plastics as well as paper and cardboard.

The new sorting line demonstrates the capabilities of Pellenc’s newest Mistral Trium solution, combining near infrared spectrometry, visible spectrometry and inductive sensing to make it ‘one of the most powerful’ optical sorting machines on the market, claims the developer.

The inductive sensor has an adjustable sensitivity which is able to detect metal particles down to 1.5 mm moving at 3 metres per second. Applications for the Mistral Trium include e-scrap, wires, printed circuit boards, scrap metal such as stainless steel, laminates and the clear thermoplastic PMMA, according to Pellenc.

In other company developments, Pellenc has recently installed two of the 2400 models from its Mistral series at plastic recycler Re-Pallet of Chiba in Japan. Two other Japanese facilities in Osaka are scheduled to take delivery of a couple of Mistral Dual Vision sorters this September.
