‘T he recycling industry had excellent timesback in 2004 when we had our last user
meeting, and this has not changed too much,
though the first signs of a slow-down are appearing
on the horizon,’ reported Bernd Klarmann, CEO of
RECY Systems AG of Unterschleißheim in
Germany. He was addressing around 80 delegates
from a total of 33 customer companies at his firm’s
tenth user meeting for recycling business software.
The software aimed at recycling companies has
found a worldwide user base: the list of countries
where it has recently been installed includes China,
Estonia, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia and Turkey. The
software covers virtually all commercial and tech-
nical operations typical for the sector – from materi-
al input, handling, trading, processing, logistics and
shipping to accounting and control functions. It also
handles the interface with electronic cash transfer
systems. RECY’s modules include: B2B-solutions
via the Internet with clients such as steel mills,
foundries and paper producers; an automatic inter-
face with Railion (the rail freight provider of
German rail company DB); and links to accounting
systems such as those of SAP.
The software is periodically enhanced to meet the
future requirements of the business, and can be inte-
grated with specific solutions provided by other sup-
pliers such as the Dakosy international shipment
handling software developed by Datenkommuni –
kationssystem in Hamburg. Drivers for such
upgrades include among others: the implementation
of new opportunities in the field of mobile communi-
cation technologies; adaptation to new national and
international administrative requirements with
respect to reporting and international shipping of
scrap; and improved surveillance to counter the rising
tide of metal thefts. Other developments include
improvements to existing functions as well as
enhanced interlinking of different modules.
New features
‘Over the past few years, we have added a num-
ber of interesting new features and modules at
RECY,’ disclosed Manfred Aniol, a board member
of RECY Systems AG. These encompass a trading
module for national and international trade com-
plete with a word-based forms generator for the
necessary documentation; a purchase order system
featuring the electronic collection of data; and a
fleet control system using GPS positioning.
International trade is facilitated by the integra-
tion of CargoSoft Global Edition from Dakosy. In co-
operation with Swiss customers, an accounting and
admin system has been set up for the SENS and

Recycling business software for future challenges
RECY Systems:
Companies active in collecting, processing and trading recyclables
need very specific software solutions which take into account the
complex technological, administrative and legal peculiarities of
their sector. Tough legislation aimed at curbing ecological hazards
and enhancing control over commercial activities at national as
well as international level calls for special reporting and account-
ing functions. At its tenth user meeting, RECY Systems outlined the
latest improvements it has made to meet these challenges.
