Metso Minerals’ recently-acquired
manufacturing company BEST has
introduced a sea container load-
ing system which is said to elimi-
nate port bottlenecks resulting
from traditional break-bulk load-
ing methods.
According to the company, this swift,
effi cient and safe system lends itself to
the loading of shipping containers for
export of both ferrous and non-ferrous
metals.
Capable of loading 20- and 40-foot
containers without damage, the system
is said to reduce total loading times to
a dramatic extent. Featuring a pre-set
loading weight bridge and a virtually
maintenance-free vibratory feeder, the
system calls for one operator at a con-
trol panel but no manual labour inside
the container itself.
BEST is a leading supplier of precision-
engineered equipment, turn-key systems
and technologically-advanced controls.
The company’s recycling product range
includes non-ferrous systems; Enviro-
Clean dedusting systems; shredder isola-
tion mounts; metering drum feeders;
undermill magnet and ECS feeders;
screeners; water injection systems; inno-
vative shredder controls; and BestView
production management software.

Gensco has introduced the H-MAG
scrap handling package which
includes a magnet with integrat-
ed power pack.
The magnet is easy to install because no
additional wiring is required. Users can
employ existing buckets or auxiliary cir-
cuits to power the system, needing only
to bring hydraulic power to the magnet.
Stopping the hydraulic fl ow triggers an
automatic demagnetising cycle.
The generator is housed in a steel shell
secured to the magnet case with lifting
lugs and chain suspension. The con-
struction is supplied with dual hoses in
a reinforced protective sleeve and quick
connections. There are currently four
sizes of H-MAG available with diame-
ters of 36, 40, 45 and 48 inches.

Dutch recycling equipment manu-
facturer Wagensveld BV has
developed the Carbo Separator
for separating cardboard from a
pre-sorted paper waste stream.
According to the manufacturer, the pat-
ented separator uses needles which
drill the cardboard but not the paper.
With the help of the eccentric effect of
the separator drum, the cardboard is
directed to a conveyor belt and released
on to it.
Material destined for the separation
process must be dry and dense in order
to obtain best results, according to the
manufacturer. Smaller-size material can
be sorted by altering the number of
sorting needles.

US baling equipment manufactur-
er PTR has introduced the “Big
Green” Vertical Baler – a self-con-
tained baling system designed
for applications where space is at
a premium.
According to the company, the vertical
baler is particularly suitable for ware-
houses, supermarkets, drug stores and
manufacturing plants, and can be used
for a variety of applications including the
baling of cardboard, PET bottles, alu-
minium cans and siding. The 18 different
models can accommodate bales weigh-
ing between 100 and 1800 pounds.
The “Big Green” Vertical Baler’s stan-
dard features include a key-operated
on/off switch, motor overload protec-
tors and a Tri Voltage motor, while an
auto eject system, wire tie guides and
HiLo power units are among its option-
al features.
The balers comprise heavy-duty platens
of structural steel engineered to elimi-
nate all stress on the connection pin
between the cylinder and the platen
during compression. This minimises the
possibility of pin failure and operator
injury, according to the manufacturer.
Units are engineered to provide years
of service and feature heavy-duty weld-
ed steel components tested to ensure
high container weights, it adds.
