IFAT Eurasia moves from Ankara to Istanbul

Turkey – In 2015, IFAT Eurasia celebrated its premiere in Turkey’s capital Ankara. But for 2017, this Turkish version of the major Munich-based IFAT trade show will be moving to Istanbul.

According to Stefan Rummel, managing director of Messe München, Istanbul is the ideal location for IFAT Eurasia. ‘This city ranks among the world’s mega cities,’ he says. ‘There is a high demand for technologies for the segments of recycling and waste management.’

Through its geographical location as a link between Asia and Europe, Istanbul offers ‘an excellent basis’ for expanding international business relations, it is added. With 15 million inhabitants, Istanbul is almost three times larger than Ankara and its importance for foreign trade is enormous: more than half of Turkish exports and imports are centred on the city, according to national statistics authority Turkstat.

The Istanbul Expo Center will host IFAT Eurasia on February 16-18 2017.
