Asian market seen as major growth opportunity for UNTHA

Global – Shredding technology specialist UNTHA has made Andreas Senkbeil responsible for the company’€™s growth in the Asian-Pacific market.

His appointment coincides with UNTHA’s increased penetration of the Asian market. In 2015, for example, the company shipped an XR waste shredder to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam for the processing of solid footwear production waste. Also, it played a major role in the development of a facility in Wonju, South Korea.

‘In South East Asia alone, we see huge market fragmentation,’ Senkbeil comments. ‘Singapore was the first country to declare waste a national resource, for example, but Thailand has since followed suit as a result of the pro-environment government defining the country’s energy policy and waste issues making the national news.’

According to Senkbeil, there is much more work to be done in developing economies such as Vietnam and also in China. ‘There is so much potential,’ he stresses. ‘This is definitely a great opportunity for me.’ Senkbeil brings a significant amount of relevant waste management experience to his role, having worked in this sector for the past four years.

UNTHA’s new man will split his time between Asia, Australia, his home city of Berlin and the company’s headquarters in Salzburg, Austria.
