Borealis to acquire German plastics recyclers

Germany – Borealis, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals and fertilisers, has reached an agreement to acquire in full the German plastics recyclers mtm plastics and mtm compact. This transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.

Based in Niedergebra in Germany, mtm plastics GmbH is regarded as a technology leader in the recycling of mixed post-consumer plastic waste and as one of Europe’s largest producers of post-consumer polyolefin recyclates.

At the moment, mtm says it processes up to 75 000 tonnes of input product a year. This is mostly polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastics sourced from pre-sorted plastic blends; commercial and industrial waste; bulk waste collections; as well as household waste collections.
