A major fire broke out at Biffa’s recycling plant in Coalville, UK after an electrical fault in a baling machine.

A total of 11 vehicles from the fire service were called to the scene on 21 January and fire-fighters from various stations in the area spent hours through the night fighting flames which rose more than 20 metres.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service later said the electrical fault ignited a bale of recovered paper and the flames spread to 50 tonnes of baled paper. A spokesman for the service confirmed no-one was injured.

Drone footage of the clean-up efforts at the plant can be viewed here.
