Olympus had created the Vanta Element X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyser. The new handheld offers the essential features that the Vanta series is known for—speed, reliability, ruggedness, connectivity and smartphone-like ease of use—in a cost-effective model.

Olympus says the slim Vanta Element analyser is easy and fast to use, weighing only 2.9 lb. (1.32 kg). The unit realises high throughput testing and is ‘up to the challenge of all day’. Users can get a clear material and grade ID in seconds and compare alloy grades on the instrument’s screen.

Thanks to its dual-core processor and Olympus’ proven Axon Technology, the handheld has the same high count rate and stability as the rest of the Vanta series. This ensures rapid sorting and a fast return on investment.

Tough at any temperature

Built for use in demanding environments, the new analyser series is IP54 rated for resistance to dust and moisture. Besides, the tool was constructed to pass a 4-foot drop test to allow operators to keep working in case of an accidental drop or impact.

For additional protection, a stainless steel faceplate is paired with a thick (50 µm) Kapton window that can be easily attached and removed for toolless window changes in the field. Also, working in hot or cold environments is not a problem; the Vanta Element analyser gets the job done even if temperatures range from -10 °C to 45 °C (14 °F to 113 °F).

Stay connected

Another benefit is the optional wireless connectivity to connect to the Olympus Scientific Cloud. Doing so enables wireless data sharing and access to convenient fleet management tools, as well as the Olympus mobile app or your network.

Furthermore, the analyser also has a 1 GB microSD card for storing results and two USB ports for easy data export. For added flexibility, the Vanta Element analyser is compatible with accessories including the Vanta field stand, soil foot, probe shield and holster.
