Finland – Shredder manufacturer Metso is participating as a corporate partner in a new permanent exhibition at the Museum of Technology in Finland’€™s capital Helsinki.

The TechLand exhibition currently being constructed is a joint undertaking between the museum, 11 leading Finnish companies, researchers and other parties to present the story of the country’s industry. Metso is participating in the design and experiential display of aggregates, mining and metal recycling processes as well as of process industry flow control.

‘We want to promote innovation and choices in the industry so that natural resources can be utilised more and more responsibly,’ comments Metso’s senior vice president Urs Pennanen. ‘It is important to understand how minerals and the process industry are connected to the construction of modern society and how the circular economy works.’

According to the museum’s director, the objective of the exhibition is to: inspire and surprise ‘both those with knowledge in the field and new audiences’; and to develop a new kind of co-operation with Finnish companies, ‘including international leaders in their field’.

Additionally, Metso has donated a sum of EUR 1 million to Tampere University of Technology, Aalto University and the University of Oulu. In doing so, Metso wishes to support Finnish scientific research and its application in practice.

‘The opportunity for continuous, varied scientific research work in cooperation between universities, companies and other parties is essential for building a sustainable future,’ so says Matti Kähkönen, president and ceo of Metso Corporation.

‘It is also of utmost importance that universities’ training programs produce top experts with knowledge and skills that promote companies’ ability to renew and succeed,’ he adds.
