Imerys gains Regain Polymers

United Kingdom – Mineral-based specialty solutions provider Imerys has completed the acquisition of UK plastics recycler Regain Polymers and will combine it with its existing waste polyolefin compatibilisation business within the Imerys Performance Additives Division.

Formed in 1991, Regain Polymers is located in Yorkshire and specialises in recycling post-consumer and post-industrial rigid plastics, producing tightly-specified compounds from seven extrusion lines.

‘Regain’s capabilities and expertise in the washing, sorting and production of flakes from post-consumer plastics complement Imerys’s mixed polyolefin compatibilisation activity, marketed as ImerPlast,’ it is noted. ‘Both companies have extensive knowledge about compounding and applications.’

Based in France, Imerys boasts annual revenues of Euro 4.2 billion (US$ 5 billion) and employs around 17 500 people.

‘This acquisition provides the basis for Imerys’s future investment in higher-value applications for recycled polymers across the construction, packaging, automotive, horticulture and industrial sectors,’ it states.
