‘Most advanced’ sorting plants soon opening their doors in Australia

Australia – A total of 40 AutoSort optical sorting units developed by TOMRA Sorting Recycling will be delivered to three materials recovery facilities operated by SKM Recycling in Coolaroo, Australia.

SKM is building three new plants, which are expected to be operational in the first quarter of this year, will process more than 350 000 tonnes of single-stream post-consumer material annually.

The innovative sorting equipment will mainly serve to process paper, plastics, metals and glass ‘into high-quality products’.

SKM is proud to be developing ‘the most technically advanced and automated recyclables processing plants on the continent or even worldwide’, according to Robert Italiano, business manager of SKM.

‘Winning such a big contract means SKM have placed a lot of trust in TOMRA and our newest technology. I’m looking forward to seeing the ultra-modern plants in operation,’ comments Tom Jansen, sales manager at TOMRA Sorting Recycling.

SKM Recycling was founded in 1999, and provides recycling services to local councils and businesses in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania as well as New South Wales.
