Briquetting experts unite to deliver on-stop-shop

Ruf Briquetting Systems has acquired Danish firm C. F. Nielsen A/S on 1 July. ‘This deal means that the complete spectrum of briquetting technology will be available from one source,’ Ruf says.

Ruf’s decision to purchase C.F. Nielsen results in it expanding its recycling solutions portfolio with two important technologies, namely the mechanical briquetting and the compression with extruder, which has been dubbed the Shimada technology.

F. Nielsen started developing its briquetting systems in the 1940s. The throughput capacity of its equipment ranges from 200 kg/h to 3500 kg/h – with the main application areas being the wood and biogenic material processing industries.

Family philosophy

‘We are both family businesses with a very similar philosophy and method of operating,’ comments Roland Ruf, director at RUF. ‘Therefore, we attach great importance to being innovative through our content employees and presenting ourselves as reliable partners on the market. With this in mind, we will together drive new advances for our customers forward and make use of synergy effects,’ the businessman adds.   

According to Mogens Knudsen and Henning Larsen, they were interested in selling their company because of they had some trouble securing a suitable successor.  The Danish duo started looking for a good match to sell the business to at the start of 2018. ‘In Ruf we have found the right family business,’ Knudsen states.
