Major recognition for technology specialist Sicon

Germany – Recycling technology provider Sicon has been awarded the ‘Innovative through Research’ seal of approval by Stifterverband, a major German science funding institution. Sicon is receiving this recognition for its ‘substantial contributions’ to research and development in Germany’s environmental technology field over the past five years.

According to Stifterverband, many of the current problems facing the scrap recycling industry stem from the fact that it tends to retain obsolete processes and that system operators fail to utilise the possibilities offered by modern processing technology. ‘Sicon’s success in the field of scrap and shredder residue processing is closely tied to the innovative culture practised by the company,’ it is stated.

Sicon develops technical solutions for the recycling industry. Its products cover the entire range of shredder residue treatment – including the EcoShred Compact, a compact shredder which is claimed to set ‘new standards’ in performance and ease of maintenance.

The company has also developed Airtuning, an exhaust air treatment solution for reducing dust, volatile organic compound (VOC) and dioxin emissions.
