Axion to market Nestro air separators

United Kingdom – Axion, a UK engineering firm with a focus on plastics recycling, has negotiated a sales and marketing agreement with Nestro Lufftechnik GmbH of Germany to promote and sell the latter’s air separation products and technologies in the UK and Ireland.Established in 1987, Nestro operates from several sites in Europe and has over 250 employees. The company designs and produces air separation products and vacuum systems for sorting lightweight films, paper and dust from heavy product fractions in the following markets: wood-working; energy from waste; and, more recently, plastics recycling.
The increase in the scope and volumes of plastics from kerbside collections across the UK has changed the composition of dry recyclables entering material recovery facilities (MRFs), with the higher proportion of plastic film waste presenting older MRFs with a separation efficiency challenge. Nestro’s equipment is designed to be retro-fitted to existing MRFs or incorporated into new plant installations; it provides a solution for lights separation and opens up opportunities to turn this type of waste into a recyclable resource.
Axion Director Keith Freegard comments: ‘MRF operation managers often respond to a change in the incoming material mix by increasing the level of manual sorting; however, the extra labour required to efficiently remove plastic film waste is not viable. Nestro air separators are a far more cost-effective solution.’
Axion plans to promote the application of Nestro products and technologies to key potential users, such as municipal waste processing and sorting plants, as well as to processing plants handling: construction and demolition waste; green waste; and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and end-of-life vehicles (ELVs).
