Andritz develops carton recycling line in Vietnam

Tetra Pak South East Asia, based in Singapore, has commissioned Andritz to deliver a beverage cartons recycling system at its board production mill in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.

The recycling solution will be installed at the Dong Tien Binh Duong Paper facility and is scheduled to start operations this summer. The new stock preparation line will feature two new products for Andritz, the PrimeFFD BT pulper and the PrimeClean TO.

The first machine is part of the FibreFlow drum pulper series which has a processing capacity of about 50 tonnes per day. It will operate in batch mode to transform cartons into high-quality fibres while separating poly-aluminium components. These will be used in the production of corrugated roofing sheets.

The PrimeClean TO (Two-in-One) cleaner was chosen because it combines two cleaning stages in one unit and separates fibres and contaminants with increased efficiency and less energy input.

‘We already have a used beverage carton recycling line from Andritz, which is operating very successfully,’ says Hoang Trung Son, general manager at the mill. ‘Andritz has been a highly valued long-term partner since 2007 and we are expecting once more top performance.’

Tetra Pak has been investing in sustainable industry leadership over the last couple of years. Its business, Dong Tien Binh Duong Paper, is part of Dong Tien Packaging and Paper, a paper recycling leader in Vietnam.

Since 2011, Tetra Pak has had an active cooperation with Don Tien focusing on the collection and recycling of beverage cartons.
