Titanium recycling facility ‘a first in Europe’

France – French firm EcoTitanium is developing a titanium recycling facility that will supply the aviation industry, reports the Dutch Embassy in Paris.

The plant is being built in the Auvergne region of southern France and is claimed to be a first of its kind in Europe. Total investment is Euro 48 million. The facility will provide the aerospace industry with a ‘new titanium sourcing channel, enabling it to manage its supply better for this strategic raw material’.

Three shareholders are involved in the project: EcoTitanium is the result of cooperation between the Aubert & Duval and UKTMP. The two companies enetered into a titanium processing joint venture, UKAD, in 2011. The French energy agency ADEME and the Crédit Agricole bank are partnering UKAD in the new initiative.
