Metallix’s new precious metals lab ‘exceeds expectations’

United States – US precious metals recycler Metallix Refining Inc. has unveiled a new 4000-square-foot metals analysis laboratory in Greenville, North Carolina. The custom-built lab addresses the company’€™s long-standing need for more space as well as providing an enhanced analysis environment.

‘Analysing precious metals is a meticulous process,’ says Metallix’s president Maria Piastre.

‘It not only requires the most sensitive, modern equipment and analytic methodologies, but environmental conditions like temperature and humidity need to be strictly controlled. This new laboratory meets – even exceeds – all of our expectations.’

Metallix has been buying and recycling precious metal-bearing scrap for nearly 50 years. The company assays gold, silver, platinum, palladium and rhodium via, among other methods, inductively coupled plasma, fire assay, wet chemistry, gravimetric, titration and x-ray fluorescence.

‘This precious metal laboratory has been calculatingly designed to not only accommodate the new equipment and infrastructure needed today, but with foresight that enables us to continually modernise it as needed well into the future,’ states Metallix’s director of technology Claudio Ferrini, who designed the facility.
